Baseline Study: CARE START4GIRLS Project: CARE International in Zimbabwe

CARE International in Zimbabwe seeks to appoint a qualified and experienced consultant to conduct a Baseline study for the Supporting Transition, Retention and Training for Girls (START4Girls) Project being funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC). The project is aimed at improving attendance, retention, completion and transition by adolescent girls and young women, including those with disabilities, within, across and beyond educational learning pathways in vulnerable communities of Zimbabwe. The project is being implemented in Manicaland Province, covering 2 districts of Mutare and Buhera. Key project implementation pillars include reduced prevalence of harmful gender norms and socio-economic barriers to adolescent girls and young women’s continued education and training, improved provision of inclusive, equitable, safe, resilient and disaster ready education services and improved provision of relevant, diverse & accessible technical & vocational skills training opportunities to adolescent girls.

Specific Objectives
To determine baseline values for key project indicators; To assess the status and potential that the project activities (interventions) will manage to achieve intended educational learning pathways outcomes in project operating areas; To provide a forward-looking study that serves a reference point for assessing changes and impact by establishing a basis for comparison before the project activities (or interventions) take place.
