Description

Consultant Facilitator (Dialogue Facilitator): Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC)
Deadline: 19 February 2021

Background
The Tongogara Refugee camp is situated about 420 km southeast of Harare. It was established in 1984 after independence and took in refugees from Mozambique who were fleeing from the war between the government and the Mozambican National Resistance Movement (RENAMO). It is estimated that as many as 58,000 refugees had occupied the camp in 1994. After 1995, many of its members returned to Mozambique, and the camp closed; however, it reopened in 1998 to accommodate refugees from other African countries as well as Europe and Asia. In 2017, the population of the camp was about 10,000. The camp has been supported by a number of humanitarian focused organisations such as the United Nations World Food Program and others for food, housing, clothing, hygiene and sanitation, health care and education. The Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) seeks to provide pastoral care and accompaniment in the camp as part of its humanitarian work through training of dialogue mediators within the camp so as to utilize dialogue in problem solving and peace building.

Description of assignment
ZCC will engage a consultant to conduct training of dialogue mediators within the camp for two days on the specified dates. The training is meant to equip the dialogue mediators with necessary skills that can strategically position them for leading social cohesion and peace building initiatives through a dialogical approach. Such an initiative is fundamental as most of the Persons of Concern fled their home nations due to violent conflicts. Hence, the training will help in preparing them to deal with conflicts within the camp environment. This will also help them in undertaking their roles as community leaders in the Tongogara Refugee Camp.

Purpose
The Zimbabwe Council of Churches through its mandate to foster a united, just, peaceful and prosperous Zimbabwe is seeking the expertise and services of a consultant specializing in dialogue facilitation:
Date: 24th and 25th of February 2021 (2 days)
Venue: Tongogara Refugee Camp, Chipinge.
