Description

The Driver will support the Resilience ANCHORS Project by providing transportation services for the project staff and visitors, as well as running errands in support of project operations. Under the overall management of the Administration Assistant, the Driver will: Provide secure and reliable driving to Project Staff and all ECODIT visitors; Meeting ECODIT Officials from the Airport and assisting visitors on Immigration Protocols and driving visitors to their respective Hotels and driving such visitors to and from the ECODIT office; Maintaining the vehicle logbook daily and ensuring that log sheets are available for inspection by the Admin Assistant as and when necessary; Ensures that vehicle license is up to date and before expiration, advises the Admin Assistant to ensure it is renewed; Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies include vehicle insurance office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, jag, fire extinguisher and breakdown triangles are in place before driving the vehicle; Ensures the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle by checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires etc., performing minor repairs and arranging for major repairs, and ensuring that the vehicle is kept clean; Ensures that all the immediate steps as required by the Zimbabwe Road Traffic section are taken in case of an accident; Follows ECODIT’s drivers rules as spelt out in the Vehicle Policy.
The position will be based in Harare Zimbabwe and will be expected to travel to other locations in Zimbabwe as needed, to execute the above duties and responsibilities.
Minimum requirements
5 O Level passes, with a valid and clean, unendorsed Class 4 or higher Driver’s License is required; A Valid defensive driving certificate a must; At least 3 years driving experience preferably in an NGO Setting or an International Organization; High ethical standards; Basic knowledge of Vehicle repairs and maintenance an added advantage, a certificate in mechanics a plus; Knowledge of English and other local languages desired.
