Project Overview
Education Development Trust (EDT) has been awarded the contract by FCDO to deliver the Teacher Professional Development (TPD) component of the Teacher Effectiveness and Equitable Access for All Children Programme (TEACH) in Zimbabwe. The main objective of the TPD programme is to improve the quality of teaching and learning outcomes in Zimbabwean schools, adhering to leave-no-child behind principle. This is a £12 million programme which will run until October 2025 and will focus on improving teacher effectiveness in the classroom at national, district and local levels by building teacher networks, provide targeted in-service teacher training and support to pre-service teacher training. There will be improved, equitable access in primary and secondary schools with greater participation, retention and attainment of the poorest children, marginalized girls and children with disabilities. The programme will also contribute to wider reforms in the national education system, including inspections and assessment reforms.

Role Purpose
The enumerator will support the MERL function of Education Development Trust’s TEACH TPD programme through efficient and effective collection of programme data.
Data collection will be intense at the beginning of every cohort, mid-way and towards end of the programme. This is in line with collecting baseline, midline and end line data. In addition to understanding what will be happening at school level with regards to participation of teachers and school leaders, TEACH TPD programme will collect data using a School Head Survey tool annually and ongoing data collection will be carried out using the classroom observation tool.
While some of the ongoing tasks like gathering information on attendance, profiling, Professional Learning Communities (PLC) functionality will be done by Professional Development Officers (PDOs), there exist other tasks which will require support on data collection by way of hiring casual Data Collection Assistants (Enumerators).
TEACH TPD through the MERL function therefore seeks to have a pool of data collection assistants who can be engaged casually as and when need arise. These will require in-depth training on TEACH TPD programme at the beginning, to be then followed by activity specific training when they are contracted for each activity. The post holder will report to the MEL Assistant.

Responsibilities for this role include:
Recording data from surveys electronically and on paper forms
Conducting Focus Group Discussions with Teachers, School Leaders, and Learners
Conduct Classroom observations with guidance from Technical Lead and Ministry Representatives
Synchronizing data daily and ensure it is accessed timely and is secure
Maintaining confidentiality when collecting sensitive information
Observing protocols and ethical considerations in line with data collection
Explaining study procedures to respondents to ensure that they understand the process
Identifying potential respondents through telephone surveys

Person specifications
Minimum of a Diploma in Education or equivalent.
Qualification in Teaching is an added advantage
Experience in planning and conducting surveys in the field of Education
Experience in electronic data collection, telephone surveys and online data collection is an added advantage
Experience in collecting both quantitative and qualitative data
Knowledge of data collection ethics and protocols

Skills
Ability to work in a team and good interpersonal skills.
Ability to work and deliver with minimum supervision.
Languages: Excellent written and spoken command of English
