Job Description

Purpose

The Expert Business and Financial Services Advisor will be responsible for “soft skills” components with a focus on business and entrepreneurship skills development. S/he must have strong connections with the private sector actors including the financial service providers (Banks, Microfinance institutions, markets etc.).

Major Responsibilities

  • Spearhead the engagement of financial service providers and support these to develop/adapt and avail youth-friendly financial products and services
  • Establish credit guarantee facility and other innovative financing products that lure financial institutions to avail loans to vibrant youth groups
  • Link new and emerging youth-led entrepreneurs with relevant service providers such as youth hubs for business development support
  • Spearhead OYE project implementation in Harare, Manicaland and Mashonaland East
  • Responsible for “soft skills” components with a focus on practical business and entrepreneurship youth skills development
  • Technical Advisor in Agriculture and Energy business development, employment and enterprise development
  • Identify opportunities for youth-led enterprise development and broker relationship with value chain actors particularly in Agriculture
  • Broker input, output and service providers market linkages for young entrepreneurs
  • Spearhead youth skills training on negotiation skills, marketing and entrepreneurship development
  • Monitor project implementation
  • Document, share and disseminate project learning and results

Qualifications

Candidate Profile

  • A degree in Development Studies, Entrepreneurship, Agriculture Business or other related qualification.
  • Masters Degree in a related area of study
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in an advisory role within an INGO
  • Strong practical and theoretical experience in youth skill development
  • Business development and financial linkages experience
  • Strong connections with private actors and financial service providers
  • Fluent in English and local languages.
  • Strong computer skills
