Description

Main tasks and responsibilities:

Monitoring and Evaluation (M + E), e.g. setting up and regularly updating the M+E system of the projects, representation of the governance projects in the Zimbabwe/Zambia M + E group
Development and structuring of internal knowledge management for the preparation of learning experiences and “good practice”
Supports the management of service contracts with consulting companies and consultants, including preparation of tenders, evaluation of offers, contract management and quality assurance of service provision
Supporting internal project management, e.g. operational plan, stakeholder mapping, risk management
Assisting project initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups
Monitoring and Evaluation

Gets familiarized with GIZ requirements regarding M+E
Sets up the necessary M+E system for the current projects in the Governance Sector (GIZ results monitor and manual Excel Sheet)
Continuously liaises with other advisors on updating the results monitor
Regularly gives feedback to the team on the achievement of results
Explains GIZ M+E requirements to partner organisations and assists them when necessary
Develops and organises quality assurance measures and suggests necessary changes, improvements and initiatives
Networking and cooperation

supports cooperation with partners, local communities, relevant organisations, non-governmental agencies and individuals in the project environment and with other projects to improve and maintain good working relationships
communicates local interests and efforts, forwards these and encourages sharing ideas and information for the benefit of the project
Supports with the preparation and organisation of workshops, seminars and other events
supports capacity development measures with a special focus on digital literacy, e.g. trainings, workshops, consultancies and peer-learning events,
Knowledge management

ensures knowledge management within the project
prepares appropriate input for various project reports including annual reports, and contributes to the other reports required by the project manager and GIZ Head Office
assists with research activities
Coordination tasks

assists with general project planning and develops project concepts including preparation, organisation and moderation of planning exercises and their implementation, management, monitoring, quality management, evaluation, communication and documentation
coordinates relevant project activities at local level in consultation with the manager and in cooperation with the partners, both as regards implementation and preparing organizational aspects
compiles the relevant information for joint activities and assignments in the project

Job Application Details Qualifications and requirements • At least Bachelor’s degree in development studies or similar area that is related to the project objectives • High ability to work in a team, organizational talent, intercultural competence and very good communication skills • High affinity to latest IT applications, e.g. Microsoft applications etc.) Professional experience • At least 1 year professional experience, ideally with an international development organization (e.g. may include internships; volunteering) • Experience working on governance issues Other knowledge, additional competences • Fluency in written and spoken English, working knowledge of German an advantage • Understanding of basic project and financial management • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures to be agreed with management • Must be willing and available to travel ocassionally within Zimbabwe The successful candidate will be expected to start full-time employment with GIZ, on a fixed-term contract, as soon as possible.
