About the organization
University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences – Clinical Trials Research Centre (UZCHS-CTRC) on behalf of the International Training and Education Centre for Health (I-TECH) is seeking suitably trained and qualified applicants who will be on standby to fill locum positions that would have arisen in Harare province. I-TECH’s activities occur primarily in the technical areas of health system strengthening; health workforce development; operations research and evaluation; prevention, care and treatment of infectious diseases. I-TECH is funded by PEPFAR through the Centre for Disease Control to implement HIV & TB treatment and care services in five Zimbabwean provinces in support of the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC).
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Conducting Pre and Post-test counselling before and after an HIV Test; Linking all clients to appropriate care and services; Administering risk reduction counselling to Clients; Conducting Supportive and Follow up counselling sessions; Facilitating support group meetings; Administering adherence counselling to participants; Screening participants basing on the inclusion and exclusion criteria; Administering the informed consent process; Obtaining and updating locator information for participants; Creating and keeping up to date records of all program activities; Checking on accuracy of all client data before transmission; Referring participants to other resource centres when necessary and Performing any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Possession of a Diploma in Counselling in relation to HIV Care and Treatment from a reputable training board, a bachelor’s degree in Counselling and Psychology will be an added advantage; Certificate in Rapid HIV testing from the Medical Laboratory and Scientist Council of Zimbabwe; Minimum of 1 year experience in Counselling in an HIV related field; Candidates must have an ability to observe good clinical practice and code of counselling ethics; Excellent report writing, analytical, problem solving, presentation and interpersonal communication skills with fluency in English and one or more of the local spoken languages (Shona and/or Ndebele).
