JOB DESCRIPTION

Freda Rebecca Gold Mine has a vacancy for a Magazine Master who will be reporting to the Production Mine Captain in the Mining Department. The successful applicant will be responsible for all explosives and accessories magazines and storage facilities on surface and underground distribution stores.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Comply, interpret correctly and enforce the requirements of the Explosives Regulations, SI 72 of 1989.
  • Ensure compliance with lawful orders given by an inspector for the purposes of safety, health and discipline with regards to transportation, receipt, storage and issuing from the magazines of any explosives and accessories.
  • Ensure strict adherence to stocking and stacking requirements within the magazine.
  • Should conduct good housekeeping all the time by maintaining fireguards around the magazine and bulk emulsion storage facility.
  • Advise Management well ahead of expiry dates of licences and permits.
  • Maintain proper records of receipts and issues and stock management at all times.
  • Inspect the facilities at least once every 24hrs for integrity of installations and stocks.
  • Maintain all legal books in good condition and ensure they are updated and over- inspected by the relevant officials at the prescribed intervals.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 5 ”O” Levels including English Language and Mathematics.
  • At least a holder of a Mine Blasting Licence and a valid First Aid Certificate.
  • At least 5 years working experience as a Magazine Master in a Mining Environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid Police Clearance and traceable references.
  • Should have sound knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards.
