Context of the position

Established in 1949, SOS Children's Villages International (CVI) is a dynamic, international social development organization working globally to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of children without parental care and those who are at the risk of losing it. SOS Children's Villages International (CVI exists in more than 134 countries. The National Association of Zimbabwe is part of the bigger federation.

Job Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the project designed to respond to psychosocial, mental health, economic and relocation/ integration interventions of the beneficiaries that grew up in SOS CV Bindura Children’s Villages. The primary responsibility of this position will be to oversee overall implementation of the project that includes direct support to care leavers (livelihood, mental and psychosocial support interventions).

The Project Manager’s responsibilities will include but not limited to ensuring a comprehensive range of high standard of program implementations designed to support the care leavers who have left care. S/he will be responsible for coming up with a comprehensive plan of interventions, carry out an assessment to establish the immediate/long term needs of care leavers, and work with Community leaders, relevant stakeholders mainly; regional office, Government and NGOs who provide specialist services.

H/she will be the main contact person for the care leavers and facilitates the sourcing of service providers in liaison with relevant internal stakeholders using the laid down policies and procedures.

Additionally, s/he fulfils reporting and other management requirements related to the project and maintains the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality at the workplace.

  • Service providers( consultants, Vendors,& Contractors)

Key performance areas and main responsibilities:

1.1. Psychosocial Support Services for Project Beneficiaries.

· Coordinate with psychologists, counsellors and mental health professionals to design and provide high-level therapeutic interventions to care leavers.

· Ensure all planned psychosocial interventions are of quality and delivered timely.

· Prepare and share psychosocial progress reports.

· Establish a referral processes/ mechanisms for care leavers that goes beyond project cycle.

1.2. Livelihood/ income generation:

  • Conduct a needs assessment with individual care leavers to identify livelihood activities based on the interest, capacity and viability.
  • Develop and implement an individual development plan for each care leavers.
  • Participating in, contributing to exploration, and planning with IOR and National Office management to maximize opportunities for each care leavers.
  • Establish a review process for the business plans developed by care leavers
  • Consulting and Engagement of private sectors and Capacity Building Organizations in designing and implementation of livelihood activities
  • Building strong relationships with representatives of donors including by extending invitations to visit youth projects and special events wherever appropriate;
  • Ensuring compliance to donor requirements.
  • Coordinate the roll out of business start-up activities for care leavers.
  • Mentorship and coaching of care leavers and actively engage them in the project.
  • To nurture a positive and interactive relationship with each beneficiary for them to understand the intended outcome of the project and to benefit from it as intended in the design
  • To provide social and community integration awareness to the care leavers**.**

1.3. Project Management :

  • Develop a detailed implementation plan and budget.
  • Develop of a monitoring and evaluation plan for the project
  • Facilitate project start up activities.
  • Reporting the project progress to national directors, CVI rep and external stakeholders
  • Coordination with national association teams, region office and external stakeholders.
  • Manage and coordinate overall communication of the project with, National association, IOR and other stakeholders to ensure smooth information flow.
  • Submit monthly progress reports to CVI Representative, donor and other relevant people.

1.4. Financial Management:

  • Responsible for the implementation of the project budget in liaison with financial controller.
  • Monitor, prepare expenditure reports, and undertake follow up with MA and Regional Finance team.
  • Oversee proper grant management procedures of the project and closely manage daily operations including financial expenditures in liaison with the financial controller**.**

1.5. Stakeholders Management.

  • Proactively expand existing relationships at different levels of relevant government ministries/departments, private sector and likeminded organizations.
  • Engage and mobilize community stakeholders to support young adults’ integration into the community.
  • Act as the main contact person for all internal project stakeholders (regional office, National management team, Board and the care leavers**.**

1.6. Relocation and Coordination of Construction Care leavers’ houses.

  • Coordinate and supervise the planning and implementation of construction activities in collaboration with regional office construction manager.
  • Lead the verification of land acquisitions and documentation processes.
  • Ensure the registration of community trust for the care leavers under a deed of trust and reposit ownership of all title deeds under this project.
  • Supporting in monitoring the building progress
  • Successfully relocate all care leavers upon completion of construction and manage the handover process together with relevant stakeholders.

1.7. Direct reports:

Lead and manage the project team by providing the necessary guidance .

Experience

Qualifications:

**

Advanced University degree in social sciences such as development studies, community development, urban and rural development etc.

Competencies:

· Strong Project management experience

· Result oriented

· Experience in managing complex projects.

· People management skills

· Exposure in working in a matrix organization

· NGO Experience.

· Demonstrate ability to communication effectively to different stakeholders at all levels

Years of experience:

Minimum 5 years managerial experience in a senior portfolio role.
